Breda Murphy Restaurant was a mix of modern British & Irish cuisine in Whalley, Lancashire in the Ribble Valley between 2006 and 2023

In 2006 Breda’s dream became a reality with the opening of her own restaurant, formed from a lifetime of experience and a highly successful catering business. Nestled in the historic village of Whalley, Lancashire, the restaurant was an opportunity for Breda to present her own signature cuisine and make her mark.
From the very start the restaurant featured in the Michelin Food Guide, The Good Food Guide and Hardens. A string of articles were written in the press: The Times, The Sunday Telegraph, Sainsbury’s and Olive Magazines. Breda Murphy Restaurant has also achieved a No 1 rating on Trip Advisor.
Fast forward to 2020 and LUXLife magazine voted Breda Murphy, ‘The best contemporary British Restaurant in the UK’, and also winner of the EVAs female entrepreneur Hospitality award in 2021. Breda also won the Northern Enterprise Awards 2021 for excellence for her online frozen food box delivery service.
The legacy continues with Breda Murphy Food Services Limited supplying “Restaurant Quality Meals at Home” to a number of resellers in the region alongside our Deli in Mitton Road Business Park in Whalley.

The restaurant on Station Road permanently closed on Sunday, June 18th, 2023.

It had been an incredible journey filled with laughter, joy and cherished memories. We were truly humbled by the overwhelming support and love we received from our incredible customers and friends over the 17 years we were open.

Onwards and upward with our next chapter!

Breda’s Story

From County Carlow to Lancashire

“My culinary journey started in 1991 as a student at Darina Allen’s famous Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork, Ireland. My studies progressed into working as a teacher at the school for the next 3 years. This was followed by a move to London and valuable experience at Kensington Place and Sally Clarke’s restaurant.
A move north brought an eight year post as head chef at the famous Inn at Whitewell in the forest of Bowland. Awards and accolades, supermarket brands, my own catering business, restaurant and now this exciting home delivery venture, my journey continues…”
“I would love to invite you to be a part of my journey.”
